Our two spectacular locations offer
the opportunity to experience
all of Southern Belize.

The Mainland Lodge at Monkey River has a dock, restaurant, and two large cabañas that can each accommodate up to 3. The cabañas have private bathrooms, showers and plenty of hot water and decks that look over the beach. The lodge is less than a half mile from the mouth of Monkey River, so you can be fishing the river or the permit flats in minutes. The electricity is provided by our own generators and the 110v outlets are available in each cabaña. We have wireless Internet, so you can bring your laptop.

The Lodge at Seal Caye is about 18 miles off the coast in the Sapodilla Cayes and has dock, restaurant, kitchen, staff and guide quarters, and accommodations for 6 guests. There is a large yurt with dining/bar area, shower and bathroom, and two rooms that that each have a queen and single bed. The huge deck under the mangroves is used for most meals and for telling stories while you finish one-last rum before turning in. The other cabana with two queens and its own bath and shower extends over the edge of the water on the windward side. There are no biting bugs on Seal Caye and the sea-breeze and shade from the giant mangroves keeps things cool.

All of our power on Seal Caye is solar, all 12v DC and we use modern, flushing composting toilets. We are very aware of our responsibility to take care of this fragile spot on the reef. It is an incredible place to spend the night to be ready for the bonefish early, or just to spend some time on the pristine reef and count the tropical stars. Not much else to do (other than explore the world-class snorkeling, check out the reef fishing, or hunt some big barracuda around the reef in the evening.) It is a good way to be bored.

Food and Drink

Our food menu is Belizean, fresh, ample and delicious. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served on your schedule. Our local staff makes fresh breads and we serve a lot of seafood and chicken. Some of the local favorites include barbecued lobster, conch stew, blackened grouper, shrimp, fried barracuda, snook, and chicken with rice and beans, all with great local vegetables.

The full breakfasts include eggs, bacon, tortillas and a wonderful assortment of the local fruits like pineapple, bananas, mangoes and papaya. The coffeepot is always on and full of the aromatic Belizean coffee. Box lunches will be packed for you when you plan to be out past lunch, and if you are lucky you will have some of our fresh snook on homemade bread…but you will never want tuna fish salad again.

Vegetarian dishes or other special menus can be planned on request. We provide bottled water, and both lodges have a selection of soft drinks, beer, wine, and liquor available for purchase.

The cabanas at Monkey River and at Seal Caye are high-tech, modern yurts--energy efficient, airy and cool, dry, and very comfortable. Both lodges are designed to provide the maximum guest comfort with the minimal impact on the environment. The food is hearty, Belizean and focuses on seafood, chicken, fruits and local favorites. Most guests catch a lot of their own entrees; it doesn’t get any fresher.
